Implement national obligations under the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to the Convention on Biological Diversity;
Ensure the implementation of a strict risk assessment approach to genetically modified living organisms (LMOs) and LMO products that will cause or have the potential to cause adverse effects on humans and ecosystems;
Ensuring the regulation of activities involving genetically modified living organisms and the release of the products of such organisms so as not to affect the security and well-being of the country; and
Increase public awareness regarding the importance of biosecurity to human health, plants, animals, the environment and biological diversity
