Evaluation and Research Section (SNP)

Objective

  1. Manage and ensure the assessment of approval applications for releases for activities related to living modified organisms (Living Modified Organism - LMO) is carried out;
  2. Manage and ensure the assessment of notification applications for activities related to living modified organisms (Living Modified Organisms - LMOs) for controlled use and exportation;
  3. Manage research and development activities (Research and Development, R&D) related to Biosafety;
  4. Manage, plan and implement communication, education and public awareness activities (Communication, Education & Public Awareness, CEPA) related to Biosafety;
  5. Provide technical input for issues related to Biosafety; and
  6. Manage the appointment of members of the Genetic Modification Advisory Authority (GMAC) under the Biosafety Act 2007 [Act 678].


Enforcement and Monitoring Section (SPP)

Objective

  1. Plan, coordinate and monitor enforcement activities at the country's entrances and premises;
  2. Conduct monitoring of compliance with the Terms and Conditions of approval of the National Biosafety Board (LBK) in research laboratories/premises and field test areas as well as LMO detection activities in the market;
  3. Coordinating the amendment of the Act and the preparation of new Regulations/Guidelines related to enforcement;
  4. Conduct investigations on offenses under the Biosafety Act 2007 as well as manage prosecution cases; and
  5. Manage the appointment of enforcement officers and analysts under the Biosafety Act 2007.


Corporate and Management Section (SKP)

Objective

  1. Provide support services and facilitate other Sections in the Department;
  2. Ensure that all aspects of security that include all Department staff, documents/information and Government properties are always preserved and secured;
  3. Manage financial allocations for management and development for all programs and activities to achieve the Department's vision and mission and create efficient financial management;
  4. Planning and managing procurement of supplies and services according to current procurement and financial procedures;
  5. Manage and monitor the implementation of development projects to run smoothly according to the set time period;
  6. Coordinate and update information on the implementation of the Department's projects in the Project Monitoring System (SPPII);
  7. Manage and coordinate matters related to human resources;
  8. Coordinate and manage the needs for the capacity development of the Department's staff;
  9. Coordinate inquiries and complaints regarding issues involving the Department and biosecurity;
  10. Manage and implement Department promotion and publicity and public relations services;
  11. Coordinate issues related to integrity in the Department; and
  12. Coordinate the needs and improve the management efficiency of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).


Integrity Unit

Objective

  1. Manage matters related to integrity in the Department so that initiatives for the institutionalization of integrity, prevention, compliance, detection of misconduct and punitive actions can be implemented in a more focused, planned, efficient manner, and achieve optimal results.
